The Employment Development Department (EDD) announced today it has awarded $100,000 to La Cooperativa Campesino de California, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping California’s farmworkers achieve lasting prosperity and self-sufficiency through education, training, job placement, and other supportive services. La Cooperativa will use the grant funds to develop and conduct radio talk shows to inform migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families of various programs, benefits, and services offered through EDD and its community partners.
California’s employers added 21,100 nonfarm payroll jobs in July 2024 as the unemployment rate remained at 5.2 percent for the third consecutive month according to data released by the Employment Development Department (EDD). July’s job gain follows a revised job gain of 20,800 for June 2024.
