Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN22-12

Issued: September 30, 2022

The Employment Development Department in collaboration with the California State Library is pleased to announce that job training and professional development resources are now available through the CAreer Pathways program. This program is designed to provide Californians with two years of free access to a suite of online workforce development tools at their local public library.

The CAreer Pathways program includes a variety of valuable resources provided by the California State Library in an effort to increase personal economic development, expand digital equity, and support today’s dynamic workforce:

  • Skill Learning (e.g. project management, data analytics, bookkeeping, etc.)
  • Job-related Exam Preparation (e.g. healthcare, information technology, firefighting, etc.)
  • Cover Letter/Resume Development and Interview Skills

In addition to the CAreer Pathways resources, the California State Library offers related support for those seeking to improve their literacy skills and earn a high school diploma through the California Library Literacy Services and Career Online High School programs.

Local workforce development boards are encouraged to reach out to their local library to learn more about these resources (accessible both in-person and online for free with a library card). Workforce boards are also encouraged to share these resources with their contacts and partners.

For more information and resources regarding the CAreer Pathways program, as well as a directory of all public libraries offering these resources, please visit the California State Library's CAreer Pathways webpage. Also, please direct any questions or requests for additional information to CAPathways@library.ca.gov.
