We are working directly with small businesses across California to make EDD programs, services, and resources simpler, easier to use, and more helpful.
Through our partnership with the Small Business Employer Advisory Committee (SBEAC), we bring together small business owners, business associations, and trade organizations to listen, learn, and use their feedback to improve how we serve employers.
Already, this partnership has helped EDD make significant enhancements to help small businesses including:
- Virtual (Chatbot) Assistant: Customer feedback on common search topics that lead to improved usability.
- e-Services for Business and ACES: Through testing we improve forms and processes.
- Assembly Bill 1425: Legislative support to assist in producing outreach materials to reach small businesses related to new laws.
And don’t take our word for it, our committee members agree.
“Serving with SBEAC has proven that government agencies and local entrepreneurs can effectively team up,” said Andy Agrawal with the Small Business Employer Advisory Committee. “The EDD’s willingness to bring small business owners to the table to tackle modern compliance challenges has fostered a much stronger, more transparent, and highly supportive ecosystem for businesses across California."
Solving Real Challenges Together
On March 24, 2026, we hosted a SBEAC meeting with small business owners, business groups, and trade organizations from across California.
During the session, our staff presented an overview of available services and invited participants to engage in interactive workshops designed to encourage open discussion and real-world feedback.
This kind of collaboration helps us design services that are easier to use and more responsive to employer needs. EDD supports employers with tools and services that include:
- Help hiring and training workers.
- Guidance on payroll taxes and compliance.
- Support like the Work Sharing program to help avoid layoffs during slowdowns.
- Labor market information to help make hiring decisions.
- Online services to manage accounts and reporting more easily.
Feedback from employers helps us improve these areas.
Get Involved to Make a Difference
If you are a small business owner or represent small businesses, we want your voice at the table. Your experience helps shape how EDD improves services, tools, and communication for employers across California. Visit Small Business Employer Advisory Committee to learn more.
We’re continuously improving and finding ways to make sure your experience with us is easy and fast. We want to make sure Californians can easily access our resources and programs. In early May 2026, we launched login verification (multi-factor authentication) to Employer Services Online (including e-Services for Business, eWOTC, and SIDES). This adds a simple step to your login process. After entering your password, you’ll confirm your identity with a one-time code by email, phone, or text. This extra step takes only seconds but gives your account stronger protection.
We’ll continue partnering with employers to simplify services and improve our tools. We want to make it easier for you to access the support and resources you need. That way, you can stay focused on what matters most: your employees, your business, and your community.
