It’s Now Easier to Check Your Disability or Paid Family Leave Claim Status

We're continuing to make improvements that put you, our customer, first. Our latest update to myEDD is designed to make checking the status of your disability or Paid Family Leave (PFL) claim easier, faster, and more informative.
What’s New?
We’ve added clear, easy-to-understand status updates to your myEDD account that show where your claim stands. And, what steps (if any) you need to take.
Here's what you can expect
- A meaningful status now appears next to your Claim ID when you log in to myEDD and select SDI Online.
- When you select that status, you’ll see an updated Claim Summary with helpful descriptions. So you’ll know more about what’s happening with your claim.
- If action is required from you, the status explains what to do next.
For example, say we’ve received your application and medical certification. Now, when you check your claim, you’ll see a status that reads:
"No Action Needed: We received your application and medical certification. It takes about 14 days to process your claim after we receive the medical certification. Check SDI Online or your mail for updates or action items."
That means you’re all set for now! We’re working on your claim, and you don’t need to worry about next steps.
On the other hand, if we’re still waiting for your medical certification, your status might say:
"Medical certification is needed: We need a medical certification from your doctor or licensed health care professional before we can process your request. It is your responsibility to ensure your healthcare professional completes the medical certification."
This gives you the chance to follow up with your doctor’s office. That way we can process your claim as soon as possible.
Check for Signatures, Avoid Delays
We’ve also added new statuses for missing signatures. If a required form or certification is missing a signature, we can’t process it. We know how frustrating that is.
Now, your claim status will let you know if a form has been sent back to you to sign:
"Signature Needed: Your paper application or medical certification is missing a signature. We have returned your documents. Please return the signed documents by mail. If the medical certification was missing a signature, we have also returned it to your healthcare professional."
