Step 8: End Your Benefits

Español

Your benefit year ends 12 months after the start date of your claim. You cannot be paid for weeks that fall outside of your benefit year, even if there is a remaining balance on your claim. For more information, visit Benefit Year End.

Your payments will also end when you:

  • Stop certifying for benefits. You will not be paid for any weeks you do not certify.
  • Have reported to us that you are back to work and have stopped certifying for benefits. Tell us you’re back to work through UI Online or on the Continued Claim Form (DE 4581).
  • Have received all the benefits available to you.
  • Have reached the end of your benefit year.

If you need help in addition to unemployment benefits, visit Additional Resources. In many parts of California, you can also call 2-1-1 to learn about resources in your community. Some programs may have eligibility requirements.
