Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN24-21
Issued: December 5, 2024
The Employment Development Department (EDD), in coordination with the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, announces the availability of up to $2 million in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title I Governor’s discretionary funds for the Allied Health Program (AHP) Solicitation for Proposals (SFP) Program Year (PY) 2024-25.
The AHP PY 24-25 grant will be awarded to two projects that expand and develop career education, pre-apprenticeships, and apprenticeships that recruit, train, and employ allied health occupations, prioritizing the inclusion of adults from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds, while also targeting current healthcare workers who are limited in advancement opportunities due to age, or other factors. The selected project is expected to work in collaboration with community colleges, employer partners and labor representatives to achieve program outcomes. The strategies must be sustainable beyond the life of this grant and replicable in other California communities that face similar challenges. Projects are expected to implement evidence-based practices where available and share lessons learned with the state. These solutions will be shared with stakeholders to create lasting change and improvements in the workforce system.
Eligible applicants are Local Workforce Development Areas, education and training providers, private non-profit organizations, tribal organizations, faith-based organizations, labor unions, and Community-Based Organizations. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to partner with employers within the Allied Health sector, community colleges, and labor representatives. Individuals and for-profit businesses are not eligible to apply.
An informational webinar will be held on December 17, 2024, at 10 a.m. PT. Pre-registration is required. Please register through the Webinar Registration page by December 17, 2024, by 9 a.m. PT.
