The Employment Development Department (EDD), on behalf of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA), announces the availability of up to $1 million. These funds come from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Governor’s Discretionary Fund for the Farmworkers Advancement Program (FAP) Technical Assistance (TA) and Developmental Evaluation (DE) for Program Year 2024-25 (PY 24-25) Solicitation for Proposals (SFP) grant.

The FAP TA DE PY 24-25 awardee will assist the FAP program awardees with the continued development and refinement of projects that focus exclusively on farmworker needs at a regional level by offering essential skills and upskilling training to either advance in the agricultural industry and/or prepare for advancement outside of the agricultural sector. The FAP TA DE provider will support projects that build on wrap-around support and resources to build skills to prevent job loss, lay the foundation for upward mobility, and foster learning for continuous improvement, successful outcomes, and profound impact on underserved farmworker communities.

Eligible applicants for the FAP TA DE PY 24-25 grant must be organizations with the capacity, relationships, and expertise to deliver the necessary TA services statewide. Proposals will be accepted from Community Colleges and Institutions of Higher Education, Adult Education Providers, Education and Training Providers, County social service agencies, Community-based organizations (CBOs), Business-related non-profit organizations, Labor organizations, and Workforce Intermediaries. Individuals are not eligible to apply. Applicants must reside in the US but do not need to reside in California; however, they must have demonstrated capacity to provide technical assistance in California.

An informational webinar will be held on November 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. PT. Pre-registration is required for all attendees. Please register by November 19, 2024, at 9 a.m. PT.

The EDD encourages applicants to submit a Notice of Intent to apply by November 26, 2024, at noon PT to WSBSFP3@edd.ca.gov.
