The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications for funding. With this solicitation, BJA aims to fund reentry services and programs focused on strengthening education and employment outcomes for individuals returning to their communities after a period of incarceration. The OJP expects a maximum dollar amount per award of up to $900,000, with a total of 22 anticipated awardees.
Purpose of the Grant
The goal of the program is to establish a Fair Chance Opportunity reentry service and program that will aid individuals currently incarcerated so they may obtain credentials or meaningful employment within two years or less before their release into the community.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants for these grants include the following:
- State governments.
- Special district governments.
- City or township governments.
- County governments.
- Native American tribal governments (federally recognized).
- Nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education.
Funding Details
This FOA does not require cost sharing or matching funds from applicants. The period of performance will be 36-months and is anticipated to begin October 1, 2024.
