The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization is pleased to announce the availability of $14,000,000 in funding for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Brownfields Job Training (BJT) programs. The EPA anticipates awarding approximately 20 BJY grants, each up to $500,000.
Purpose of the Grant
The BJT program aims to recruit, train, and retain a local, skilled workforce by prioritizing unemployed and under-employed residents. The goal is to provide these individuals with the skills and credentials needed for full-time employment in hazardous and solid waste management and other environmental fields.
Eligibility
Entities eligible to apply include the following:
- General purpose units of local government.
- Land clearance authorities or other quasi-governmental entities.
- Government entities created by state legislatures.
- Regional councils or groups of general-purpose units of local government.
- Redevelopment agencies sanctioned by a state.
- Federally recognized Indian tribes (excluding those in Alaska).
- Alaskan native regional corporations.
- Alaska native village corporations.
- The Metlakatla Indian community.
- Nonprofit organizations.
Note – Entities awarded a FY 24 BJT Grant are not eligible to apply for a FY 25 BJT Grant under this solicitation.
Funding Details
- No cost sharing or matching funds are required from applicants.
- The period of performance will be five years, though applicants may propose completing the grant in less than five years.

The closing date for receipt of applications is August 15, 2024.
