Work Search Requirement and Resources for UI Customers
Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN21-07
Issued: August 4, 2021
Starting July 11, 2021, most people on unemployment are expected to search for work to maintain their benefit eligibility. The Employment Development Department (EDD) began informing those receiving unemployment of their work search requirements by mail. The work search requirement depends on the type of claim of each individual.
To help customers succeed in finding work, the EDD created resources about the work search requirement:
- Job Seekers: Returning to Work – find tips on how to identify a claim type on UI OnlineSM and view a fact sheet and other valuable information for job seekers.
- Understanding the Certification Questions – provides guidance for each certification question to help claimants certify every two weeks.
In addition, UI Online now has new help text and guidance to help those receiving unemployment. Those certifying by paper will receive inserts with this information.
America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM staff and workforce partners are encouraged to visit the resources above to get familiar with the work search requirement and helpful resources available to help people get back to work. The EDD also created an online resource for employers, including an Employers: Reopening Your Business and Hiring Employees Fact Sheet (PDF).
Please use these resources as you assist your customers and share this information with interested parties.
