The Employment Development Department (EDD) Workforce Services Branch (WSB) is pleased to announce five awards of Wagner-Peyser 10 percent Governor’s Discretionary funds totaling $2,699,960.75 for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program Year 2024-25 (PY 24-25).
The funding will support five organizations in providing enhanced employment services to DHH individuals across designated America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) locations throughout the state. Services include specialized housing, interpretive services, job placement, follow-up services and advocacy, and tailored employment services to ensure these individuals are job ready.
The awarded programs aim to achieve parity in service delivery between DHH individuals and their non-deaf counterparts across various regions in California, including Alameda, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Fresno, Imperial, Kings, Los Angeles, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Monterey, Oceanside, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Benito, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Sutter, Tulare, and Yolo counties.
Program participants will receive comprehensive support to enhance their employability and secure unsubsidized employment opportunities. Additional skill enhancement training will be provided as needed.
