Timeline Change for Comprehensive, Affiliate, and Specialized AJCC Certification Submissions

Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN25-11

Issued: December 8, 2025

The California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) will be reverting to the original spring due date for the Comprehensive, Affiliate, and Specialized America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM (AJCC) Certification in the next policy guidance.

Local Workforce Development Boards (Local Board) provide an independent and objective evaluation of their local workforce development area AJCCs every three years using the criteria outlined in Title 20 Code of Federal Regulations Section 678.800. Historically, supporting documentation for each AJCC's certification determination was submitted to the CWDB in the spring. However, in 2020, the timeline was pushed back six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the subsequent certification process that occurred in 2024, the CWDB continued to use the delayed fall submission deadline.

Based on feedback received during the 2024 certification process, the CWDB will revert to the original spring deadline for submitting certification documentation, helping Local Boards better align with other Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act policy implementation. Submission of certification documentation is expected to occur in May 2027, in accordance with the new Workforce Services Directive, anticipated to be published in the spring of 2026.
