California’s employers added 43,700 nonfarm payroll jobs in May 2024 – the largest such increase for the state since October of 2023 and a continuation of California’s 2024 job growth trend -- as the unemployment rate improved to 5.2 percent, according to data released by the Employment Development Department (EDD). May’s job gain follows a revised job gain of 4,100 for April 2024.
