Issued: September 16, 2026

California has launched a new state labeling and marketing program by the California Office of the Small Business Advocate within the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development.

This new program, called Made in California, promotes products manufactured in California by building a recognizable and proprietary brand to highlight the state’s manufacturing strength, innovation, quality, and sustainability.

Through Made in California, manufacturers of any size will have the opportunity to leverage the state’s position as a national manufacturing leader into a competitive advantage:

  • Increasing awareness of California-made products.
  • Connecting manufacturers with buyers, procurement networks, economic-development partners, and state and federal contractors.
  • Strengthening the state’s manufacturing ecosystem.

To qualify, a product must be substantially made in California, meaning that at least 51% of its wholesale value is added in California through manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or production. Approved businesses can use the official Made in California label on qualifying products, packaging, websites, and marketing materials, and will be included in the program’s online Product Directory.

Manufacturing businesses may apply to join the program. The application takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Program fees are waived through December 31, 2026, and technical support is available.

Share this information with every California manufacturer you meet and tell them how Made in California can elevate their product brand.
