The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization (OBLR), announces the availability of $5 million – $6 million in funding for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Brownfields Job Training (JT) Grants. The EPA anticipates awarding approximately 20 grants, each up to $300,000.
Purpose of the Grant
This funding opportunity aims to recruit, train, and place local, unemployed, and underemployed residents with the skills needed to secure full-time employment in the environmental field. Brownfields JT Grants fund training programs that strengthen local workforces by preparing program graduates for environmental jobs that support cleanup and revitalization efforts in their communities.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include the following:
- General Purpose Units of Local Government
- Land Clearance Authorities or other quasi-governmental entities
- Government entities created by State Legislature
- Regional Councils or groups of General Purpose Units of Local Government
- Redevelopment Agencies that are chartered or otherwise sanctioned by a State
- States
- Federally recognized Indian Tribes (excluding those in Alaska)
- Intertribal Consortia, except consortia comprised of ineligible Alaskan tribes
- Alaskan Native Regional Corporations, Alaska Native Village Corporation, and the Metlakatla Indian Community
- Nonprofit organizations described in section 501(c)(3) of title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC)
- Limited liability corporations in which all managing members are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or limited liability corporations whose sole members are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
- Limited partnerships in which all general partners are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or limited liability corporations whose sole members are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
- Qualified community development entities
- Other nonprofit organizations
Note – Entities awarded an EPA Brownfields JT Grant in FY26 are not eligible to apply under this solicitation.
Funding Details
Individual awards under this grant opportunity will be up to $300,000 with a project period of up to three years. Cost sharing and matching funds are not required for this grant opportunity, though applicants may choose to leverage resources to support the project.

Applications will be accepted until September 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
