Effective June 1, 2026, changes to the CalFresh Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) requirements will take effect under House of Representatives Bill 1 (H.R.1). As a result, more CalFresh participants may be subject to work or community engagement requirements to maintain their CalFresh benefits.
The following guidance and resources related to these changes are available and may be used by Local Workforce Development Boards (Local Board) to support outreach and engagement efforts:
