Workforce Accelerator Fund 13 – Request for Applications

The California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) and the Labor and Workforce Development Agency, in partnership with the Employment Development Department, are pleased to announce up to $2,700,000 in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds from the U.S. Department of Labor. Funds will be used to design, develop, and implement projects that accelerate employment and re-employment strategies for California job seekers through the Workforce Accelerator Fund 13 grant program (Accelerator 13).

Purpose of the Grant

Accelerator 13 focuses on workforce development projects that will drive quality jobs for California workers. Successful applications will incorporate High Road principles into projects that improve job quality, create upward mobility, and bridge workforce programs to quality jobs for workers from disadvantaged or low-income communities.

Funding Priority

  • Connection to an existing CWDB-funded High Road project.
  • Projects led by Native American tribes or tribe-serving non-profit organizations.
  • Focus on strategies and services for veterans.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must be one of the following:

  • Native American tribes and tribe-serving non-profit organizations
  • Local workforce development boards
  • Labor organizations
  • Labor-management partnerships
  • Public universities
  • K-12 education entities and adult schools
  • Community colleges
  • County social services agencies
  • Worker centers/worker’s rights organizations
  • Community-based organizations
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Workforce intermediaries

Application and Deadline

Access the Accelerator 13 application via the Cal-E-Grants portal. All applications must be submitted through the Cal-E-Grants portal by 5 p.m. on October 25, 2024. Only applications submitted through the Cal-E-Grants portal will be considered.
