Grant Application Opportunity – Native American Career and Technical Education Program

The Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education, announces the availability of approximately $16 million for fiscal year (FY) 2021 for the Native American Career and Technical Education Program. The purpose of the program is to improve career and technical education (CTE) programs that align with the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 and that benefit Native Americans and Alaska Natives.

Successful applicants will propose educational and training programs that develop academic knowledge and technical skills that prepare participants for further education and/or careers in high-wage in-demand occupations and result in postsecondary or industry-recognized credentials or an associate degree. Funds may be used to implement work-based or applied learning strategies, provide career exploration opportunities for youth, and provide preparatory education opportunities that enable student success in CTE or other programs of study. Applicants may choose to address the competitive preference priority Promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math Education, With a Particular Focus on Computer Science for additional points.

Eligible applicants are federally recognized Indian Tribes, Tribal organizations, Alaska Native entities, or eligible Bureau-funded schools. Applicants may apply as part of a consortium with one or more eligible Tribes, Tribal organizations, Alaska Native entities, or eligible Bureaufunded schools. The closing date for receipt of proposals is January 29, 2021.
