Youth Employment Opportunity Program
The Youth Employment Opportunity Program (YEOP) helps young people ages 15 to 25 who may be struggling with school or work. YEOP specialists are peer advisors—people with similar life experiences—who act as mentors and career coaches. They provide support with education, job training, and career planning.
YEOP specialists offer different services to help young people reach their goals:
- Peer Advising – Connect with someone who understands your challenges and can guide you in choosing jobs and career paths.
- Support Services – Get help with transportation, childcare, housing, or free clothing programs.
- Career Coaching – Receive one-on-one advice on education and job options.
- Job Search Help – Learn how to write a resume, prepare for interviews, meet employer expectations, and search for jobs. (This is not a job placement program.)
- Workshops – Improve skills in teamwork, communication, resume writing, computer use, and job applications.
- Education and Training Referrals – Find programs to earn your GED, high school diploma, or job training.
YEOP is for youth ages 15 to 25 who need extra support to finish school or find work. You may be eligible if you are:
- A youth offender.
- A teen parent.
- A foster or homeless youth.
- Involved with a gang or at risk of joining one.
- A member of a minority group.
- From a low-income background.
- A young person with a disability or difficulty reading.
If you don’t meet these qualifications, you may still qualify!
