Step 2: Apply
Tip: Getting your information ready before you apply can make things go more smoothly.
To avoid delays, loss of benefits, or denial of your claim, you should apply:
- No earlier than the first day your family leave begins.
- No later than 41 days after your family leave begins.
Notes:
- Bonding claim benefits must be used within the 12 months after the child's date of birth or date they entered the family through foster or adoption.
- Military Assist claims can start on or after the date of notification that a family member is being deployed for active duty.
