Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN20-44
Issued: February 8, 2021
Revised: May 6, 2021
The 2020 tax filing deadline for federal and state individual income taxes was extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021.
California Earned Income Tax Credit
The California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) puts money back into the pockets of California’s working families and individuals. In 2020, more than 6.2 million Californians, including nearly 2 million children benefited from the Cal EITC and the Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC).
The CalEITC4Me website serves as a go-to hub for information about the Cal EITC. Individuals and families will also find information regarding the YCTC, which is available for families with children under the age of six, and the federal Earned Income Tax Credit. Additionally, the website includes the following user-friendly tools:
- The CalEITC4MeCalculator – Allows individuals to determine their eligibility for the state and federal EITC, including their potential refund, in a few easy steps.
- The Free Tax Prep Finder – Connects families or individuals who made $56,000 or less to free tax preparation services.
America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM staff should continue to promote the CalEITC and share information about federal and state individual income taxes filing deadline extension.
For more information about the individual tax filing deadline extension, visit the Internal Revenue Service and the Franchise Tax Board websites.
