Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN19-50
Issued: June 11, 2020
The James Irvine Foundation created the Adaptive Workforce Development Pilot (AWDP), a 3- month program that provides Local Workforce Development Boards (Local Board) with training and support to create customer-focused services to meet the needs of people affected by economic disruption due to COVID-19.
Three Local Boards will receive intensive interactive training, and up to $5,000 to learn and work through the core phases of the human-centered design process. Using a project of its choice, the Local Board will:
- Learn about and practice design thinking and innovation strategies.
- Work to improve customer experience and outcomes for unemployed and underemployed people.
- Connect with and learn from other Local Boards aiming to improve the quantity and quality of job placements and retention for vulnerable populations.
The AWDP is focused on assisting Local Boards redesign services in the America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM (AJCC) by training and coaching AJCC managers and front-line staff. The AWDP includes one program orientation and three training workshops. Outside of these sessions, participants will spend approximately 1 to 2 hours per week on their project.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, July 13, 2020.
For more information about this funding opportunity and application process, refer to the Adaptive Workforce Development Pilot announcement (PDF).
