The Department of Labor (DOL) issued Training and Employment Guidance Letter (TEGL) 09-18 announcing the HIRE Vets Medallion Program (HVMP) under the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act or HIRE Vets Act, signed into law on May 5, 2017.
TEGL 09-18 encourages the workforce community to familiarize themselves with the HVMP by visiting the HIREVets website to help promote the program to its local employers. By the workforce system supporting HVMP it provides opportunities for local employers to be recognized for their ongoing commitment in recruiting, employing, and retaining America's veterans.
In support of the partnership, the Employment Development Department (EDD) created activity code E72-DOLVETS Hire Medallion Program (HVMP) for those that utilize the CalJOBSSM system to document activities. The workforce system is highly encouraged to use this activity code, E72, to record each time an employer is informed of the HVMP in order for EDD to track and report the partnership efforts to the Department of Labor (DOL).
