HIRE Vets Medallion Program
Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN20-47
Issued: March 12, 2021
The Department of Labor (DOL) announced the HIRE Vets Medallion Program (HVMP) on January 23, 2019 (Training and Employment Guidance Letter [TEGL] 09-18). The HVMP is under the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act), signed into law on May 5, 2017.
In support of this partnership, the Employment Development Department (EDD) created activity code E72-DOLVETS HVMP to document activities for those that utilize the CalJOBSSM system. The workforce system is highly encouraged to use this activity code to record when an employer is informed of the HVMP so that the EDD can track and report partnership efforts to the DOL.
The CalJOBS Advance Job Search feature enables individuals to search for HVMP recipients by simply activating the drop down criteria for Current CalJOBS Vets Medallion Recipients. In addition, a new HVMP icon has been developed to easily identify award recipients.
On an annual basis, DOL begins accepting HVMP applications January 31st and conclude with a receipt of nominations on April 30th. Final announcements of award recipients will coincide with Veterans Day, November 11th.
Through the support of the workforce system, the HVMP provides opportunities for local employers to be recognized for their ongoing commitment in recruiting, employing, and retaining America's veterans. The workforce community is encouraged to familiarize themselves with the HVMP by visiting the HIREVets website, and promoting the program to its local employers.
For questions related to the HVMP, please contact DOL at HIREVets@dol.gov.
