The Agricultural Worker’s Know Your Rights Guide
Workforce Services Information Notice
WSIN20-21
Issued: October 20, 2020
In response to COVID-19, the Labor and Workforce Development Agency has created a new resource to assist Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers (MSFW) in knowing and understanding their rights as it pertains to workplace safety, paid leave programs, and filing complaints.
The Agricultural Worker’s Know Your Rights Guide, a trifold brochure developed for the farmworker population, includes information regarding services and benefits farmworkers may be eligible for if they are impacted by COVID-19, required workplace health and safety protections, and a list of departments and contact information that MSFWs can reach out to for assistance. Additionally, the brochure includes the toll-free hotline for the Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB), 1-800-449-3699. If MSFWs need additional assistance in gaining access to services, the ALRB will act as the point of contact for the farmworker and generate a referral for assistance on their behalf.
America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM staff are encouraged to disseminate the Agricultural Worker’s Know Your Rights Guide to the farmworker population, farmworker service providers, and any other interested parties.
For any questions regarding the Agricultural Worker’s Know Your Rights Guide, please contact Carlos Rodriguez, State Monitor Officer, at 1-866-289-8356.
