Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) helps people get the skills they need to find good jobs and start careers. It also helps connect employers with workers who have the right skills to succeed in today’s economy.

What WIOA Offers

WIOA supports local communities through a network of America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM (AJCC) locations. These centers offer services that help both job seekers and employers:

  • Career advice and help with planning your career.
  • Help finding jobs and information about the job market.
  • A chance to learn new skills through education and training.
  • Job seekers trained to meet local job needs.
  • Education and training for full-time workers to improve their skills.
  • Job loss prevention.
  • Rapid response with training and job placement for laid-off workers.
  • Help with finishing a high school or equivalent diploma.
  • Leadership development, with opportunities for paid or unpaid work experience.
  • Education and training that can lead to higher wages and self-sufficiency.
