ACI Payments, Inc. is the vendor that administers the EDD’s credit card program. You can make a payment for a benefit overpayment online or by phone.
American Express, Discover/NOVUS, MasterCard, and Visa.
Yes. ACI Payments, Inc. charges a convenience fee of 2.3 percent of the total payment amount, with a $1 minimum. The convenience fee is a charge for using ACI Payments, Inc. credit card service and is not revenue to the EDD.
Example: If your total benefit overpayment remittance is $1,125.00, the convenience fee is $25.88 ($1,125.00 x .023). The total charged to your credit card would be $1,150.88 ($1,125.00 + $25.88).
Yes. Payments of $100,000 or more require special authorization from your credit card company. To make such a payment, call ACI Payments, Inc. at 1-877-297-7457. If you made prior arrangements with your credit card company, the transaction will be completed the day the payment was initiated through ACI Payments, Inc. If arrangements were not made in advance, your credit card transaction may take up to two days for approval, potentially resulting in a late payment.
To make a credit card payment online:
Visit ACI Payments, Inc. website. The system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. The system will prompt you for the information needed to make a credit card transaction. No registration process is required to use a credit card.
Note: At the end of the completed transaction, you will receive a confirmation number, which is proof that your transaction was successfully processed. Keep this confirmation number for your records. If you provide your email address, ACI Payments, Inc. will also email your confirmation number.
To make a credit card payment by phone: Call ACI Payments, Inc. at 1-800-272-9829.

- Jurisdiction code 1577.
The EDD’s jurisdiction code is 1577. ACI Payments, Inc. uses jurisdiction codes to uniquely identify each agency and liability type. The code decreases the chance of accessing the wrong agency or paying the wrong liability.
Yes. If you do not have the jurisdiction code, ACI Payments, Inc. allows you to enter a California ZIP Code to hear a list of payment types. Select the option California Employment Development Department for a Benefit Overpayment.
Yes. If you make a payment online on the ACI Payments, Inc. and do not have the jurisdiction code, select: State Payments, California Employment Development Dept., and Benefit Overpayment
It may take 3-5 business days for your payment to post to the EDD’s accounting system due to standard credit card processing times.
Visit the ACI Payments, Inc. website for payment information: Select Verify Payments, and provide your email address and the confirmation number or the last four digits of the credit card used for the transaction. Payment verification can only be provided for transactions processed within the last 12 months.
For phone transactions or transactions older than 12 months: Call ACI Payments, Inc. at 1-800-487-4567.
No. The ability to pay by credit card was established for your convenience. You may choose the same or an alternate method for future payments.
Five business days after making your credit card payment, call 1-800-676-5737 and use the automated Interactive Voice Response system and select option 1. This system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
No. Credit card payments cannot be warehoused.
