General Information

Benefit Overpayment Services is a convenient and secure way to manage your benefit overpayment, view your balance, and make a payment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Yes. Benefit Overpayment Services is mobile-friendly.

If you don’t already have your own personal email account, you will need to create one. There are many free email options available.

Enrollment

  • Claimant ID
  • Letter ID
  • Date of birth

Note: The Claimant ID and Letter ID are located in the upper right-hand corner of the letter mailed to you regarding your benefit overpayment. If you are unable to locate this information, contact the Benefit Overpayment Collection Section at 1-800-676-5737 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pacific time, Monday through Friday, except on state holidays, for assistance.

To enroll in Benefit Overpayment Services, you first need to register for an account in Benefit Programs Online (BPO). Follow the steps below or view our video, Enroll in Benefit Overpayment Services (YouTube).

  1. Visit Benefit Programs Online
  2. Select Log In or Register.
  3. Select Register.

After you’ve created your BPO account, log in to Benefit Programs Online and select Benefit Overpayments to begin your enrollment.

You must have a Benefit Programs Online account and your EDD Claimant ID in order to enroll in Benefit Overpayment Services. If you have a Benefit Programs Online account and an EDD Claimant ID but still cannot enroll, contact the Benefit Overpayment Collection Section at 1-800-676-5737 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pacific time, Monday through Friday, except on state holidays.

Payment Information

  1. Log in to Benefit Programs Online.
  2. Select Benefit Overpayments.
  3. Select Make a Payment from the I Want To menu.
  4. Select payment method type (such as ACH Debit).
  5. Enter the required information, then select Submit.

  3. Select View My Payments from the I Want To menu.

  3. Select Set up an Installment Agreement from the I Want To menu.
  4. Review the Installment Agreement Requirements, then select Next.
  5. Complete the required fields, then select Submit.

Contact the Benefit Overpayment Collection Section at 1-800-676-5737 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pacific time, Monday through Friday, except on state holidays.

  1. Log in to Benefit Programs Online.
  2. Select Benefit Overpayments.
  3. Select Personal Profile from the menu and select Personal Preferences.
  4. Set a preference for both your spoken and written languages in either English or Spanish.

Error Messages and Technical Issues

For your protection, Benefit Overpayment Services will timeout after 30 minutes of inactivity. You will receive a warning message five minutes before your session will end. To avoid session timeout, select a button or link every 25 minutes.

The EDD’s online services are compatible with the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. For the best experience, use the latest version of Chrome or Firefox.
