Reopen Your Claim with UI Online
If you stop certifying for continued benefits (even for one week), your UI claim becomes inactive. If this occurs, UI OnlineSM will notify you to reopen your claim.
Note: Customers on Partial or Work Sharing claims are unable to reopen a claim using UI Online at this time but can access many of the other features of UI Online.
If you need to reopen your claim in UI Online, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Log In.
Log in to Benefit Programs Online and select UI Online to access your account.
Step 2: Select Reopen Your Claim.
On your UI Online home page, in the notifications section, you will receive a notification from the EDD that you need to reopen your claim. Select Reopen Your Claim to begin.
Step 3: Answer the Necessary Questions.
When reopening your claim, you may be asked to answer additional questions to provide more information. Having this information allows the EDD to review your eligibility for benefits more quickly. If there is a question as to whether you will be eligible for payment, a phone appointment will be scheduled.
Step 4: Submit Answers.
At the end of the process, submit your answers. When you have successfully submitted your request to reopen your claim, you will receive a confirmation page.
Step 5: Ready to Check Status?
Be sure to check your UI OnlineSM homepage regarding any updates on your request to reopen your claim. If weeks are available to certify for benefits, you successfully reopened your claim. It may take 7-10 days to reopen your claim since your claim may need to be reviewed.
